Below you will find a high-level process map showing the various steps involved in updating your record should you have a period of maternity/paternity/parental/adoption leave.

1 HR advises the DB Section Administrator you are commencing maternity / paternity / parental / adoption leave
Nothing for you to do at this stage as HR will let the DB Section Administrator know you are commencing maternity / paternity / parental / adoption leave.
2 The DB Section Administrator updates your record accordingly
Your record will be updated to reflect the fact you are on maternity / paternity / parental / adoption leave.
3 HR advises the DB Section Administrator if you are returning from maternity / paternity / parental / adoption leave
At the appropriate time HR will be talking to you about returning to work. Once you have decided what you are doing HR will let the DB Section Administrator know.

4 Returning to work - your record is updated
Your record will be updated to reflect the fact that you have returned to work. Your record will also reflect any changes to your working hours (for example if you decide to change to part-time hours).

5 Not returning to work - you will be treated as leaving Service
If you decide not to return to work, you will generally be treated as if you left Service on the latter of 18 weeks after the date your maternity leave or statutory maternity pay ceases.
